Field Experience Reflection
Metro E Reflection
The experience at Metro E was fantastic! My partner and I worked with 4th & 5th grade students. We had a few issues, but we were able to figure them out by ourselves. The first issue we had was that our drone did not want to connect to the device that we were using. The issue was that we were too close to each other, and the drones were connecting to other devices. My partner and I decided to have the children that were in our group use the drone simulator. The children really enjoyed the simulator because they were still able to fly the drone and put their own code in. After we completed our WeDo 2.0 lab we were able to get the drone to work. The battery needed to be changed and then it started to work again. The children got really excited to see the drone in action. The WeDo 2.0 lab went perfect. Ice Cube was functioning correctly and did exactly what he was supposed to do. The only issue we came across was that the table was not level, so Ice Cube was not able to walk in a straight line for as long as he normally can. Ice Cube was still able to make the noises and flash. One of our students was able to change the color that Ice Cube was flashing at the back of him. Overall, it was a great experience, and I would do it again. 2e: communicate with students, parents, and leaders about the impacts of computing in our world and across diverse roles and professional life, and why these skills are essential for all students.

Hi Heather, sorry for the issues that you had with your drone, my partner and I had the same experience with our drones. For some reason we were having a hard time getting them to connect to our phone and our Chromebook. Good job thinking on your toes about the drone situation we had to do that as well in order for the kids to be able to get some experience with the drones. The table outside was not straight and we had a small issue as well where our bot did not want to turn, but once we put it on the concrete it was able to work just fine.
