Gardening TEK-

K-2.1.B create original products using a variety of resources;

Gardening Topic:

Investigating the different organisms that would make up our gardening ecosystem(How will they interact with one another? Which are producers, consumers?)

Materials Needed:

- Cricut bumble bee design

- Fake Flowers

- Pipe cleaners

- Ground Up Chalk for the Pollen

- Glue Stick

Gardening Maker Space Hero Journey:

ISTE CT Standards

3aModel and learn with students how to formulate computational solutions to problems and how to give and receive actionable feedback.

Students will watch a video of how a bee pollinates a flower. Students will formulate their own computational solutions to problems consumers can cause in a garden.

3bApply effective teaching strategies to support student collaboration around computing, including pair programming, working in varying team roles, equitable workload distribution, and project management.

3cPlan collaboratively with other educators to create learning activities that cross disciplines to strengthen student understanding of CT and CS concepts and transfer application of knowledge in new contexts.

Since this is a group project, my partner and I will collaborate and work with one another to create a lesson to help students understand the CT and CS standards.

Guiding Questions:

My partner and I have chosen to use the Digital Presentation for our MakerSpace. Students will create a Google Slide Presentation discussing the relationship of organisms to their environment.

- K.9(B) Child observes, investigates, describes and discusses the relationship of organisms to their environments.

- 3.10(A) explore how structures and functions of plants and animals allow them to survive in a particular environment.

Service Project Preparation:

How will you exemplify a learner response or two?

The learners will be able to exemplify their learning by asking questions before and after the lesson.

How will you make your activity DIGITALLY creative and collaborative among the participants?

When I was using the cricut I was able to cut out the pieces for the bee that Reese created. This activity will show the students that I used digitally creative material that they will use to put together a bee.

How will you promote and support learners toward a CCISD Multimedia fair submission?

My partner and I will be able to explain the use of Multimedia by seeing a creative tool that was used. One of the technology items that will be used is the AI Story.

What question and sentence prompts will you use to demonstrate Growth Mindset and Appreciative Inquiry facilitation within your activity?

The students will learn how bees pollinate flowers in the garden. Questions I will ask the students to demonstrate growth mindset are based on the activity. I will ask the students comprehension questions such as "What do bees do in the garden?" , "How does a bee pollinate?", and "What does a pollinating do?" These questions will allow the students to think about what they have learned and use their comprehension skills and growth mindset to understand.
